#3 Women's Squash Highlights Senior Day With 7-2 Victory Over #4 Yale

The victory moved Princeton to 7-2 on the season, 2-2 in the Ivy League, and keeps the Tigers perfect at home this season. They will try to keep that record intact Sunday at 2:30 when they host Brown on the Ivy League Digital Network.
Princeton won two matches in each of the first two shifts, and then the Tigers finished the job by sweeping the final shift.
Freshman Samantha Chai and junior Gabriella Garr both claimed 3-1 wins at the start to open a 2-1 lead for Princeton. Senior Rachel Leizman, who posted the critical 2013 victory that helped Princeton to the Ivy League championship that season, pushed the tough Shiyuan Mao to five games, but Mao won a tight 11-7 win in the finale to keep Yale in the hunt.
Senior Tara Harrington recorded the best match of her season at a cruical time. She defeated Jocelyn Lehman 3-0 and dropped only eight points total in the last two games. Yale came back with a win at No. 5, and that set up the match on the main court to determine the momentum.
Yale was in good shape early, as Celine Yeap led 2-0 after wins of 11-6 and 11-3. Princeton All-America junior Maria Elena Ubina dug deep and evened it with wins of 11-6 and 11-9. Ubina took over in the final for the 11-4 win, and that put Princeton within one match of the team victory.
As it turned out, every Princeton player that shift was ready to secure the win. Sophomore Kira Keating was the first to cross the finish line, as she topped Selena Maity 3-0 to clinch the team win.
Sophomores Lindsey Scott and Olivia Fiechter finished it off with 3-1 wina. It was the first win of the season for Scott, who missed the first half of the year with an injury. Scott is rounding into form at the perfect time, and she outlasted Annie Ballaine with matching 11-9 wins in the final two games.
Fiechter, the reigning Ivy League Rookie of the Year, finished the match with an 11-8, 11-13, 11-8, 11-7 win over Jenny Scherl.
