Weather Limits Track & Field Action in Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. (3/19/16) - A weather delay pushed back the start of the Black & Gold Challenge at the University of Central Florida this afternoon, and it conflicting with travel arrangements, the Princeton track & field teams had limited action this afternoon.
On the women's side, sophomore Kennedy O'Dell and senior Brielle Rowe competed in the discus. O'Dell who PR'ed in the event at South Florida two days ago nearly did so again today as she and Rowe went 1-2 in flight 1 of the discus and finished eighth and ninth overlal. O'Dell threw to 43.68 (143-4) on her third throw, while Rowe reached 43.51 (142-9) on her final attempt.
The 4x100 relay of freshman Charles Volker, freshman Josh Billington, senior Daniel McCord and sophomore Carrington Akosa won the relay at 40.56, more than one second ahead of the rest of th competition.
The indoor Ivy Hep champion junior Ray Mennin won the 400 at 47.99. He just edged Maryland's Alex Leto who came in at 48.00. Sophomore Joshua Freeman was fourth at 48.52.
Sophomore Mitchel Charles was the runner-up and top collegiate in the discus He threw to 47.10 (154-6) on his first and only countable throw of the afternoon.
Sophomore James Burns won section 2 of the 110-meter hurdles and was sxith overall at 15.62. He also threw a PR of 36.46 (119-7) in the discus, improving by more than 10 feet.
The women's team will be back in action next weekend when it sends its throwers to the Monmouth Season Opener and senior pole vaulter Allison Harris to the North Florida Spring Break Challenge.
The men's team will split off into three meets on March 30-April 2 as the team competes at the Pepsi Florida Relays, the Stanford Invitational (distance) and the Texas Relays (pole vaulter Adam Bragg).
DAY 1 RECAP
ORLANDO, Fla. (3/18/16) - Freshman Adam Kelly earns his second runner-up finish of the weekend in the hammer throw. After taking second at the USF Bulls Invitational yesterday with a 62.78, Kelly improved with a throw of 63.97 (209-10) this afternoon on his final attempt. His last two attempts were both more than 63 meters.
Sophomore Gabe Arcarco was fourth at 55.90 (183-5) and junior Vic Young was fifth at 55.07 (180-8).
