PRINCETON, N.J. - The Princeton baseball team begins Ivy League play this weekend as the Dartmouth Big Green (Sat.) and Harvard Crimson (Sun.) come to Clarke Field. Each day will be a doubleheader. The first game, a seven-inning contest, will begin at 12:30 p.m. while the second is a nine-inning game starting at 2:30 p.m.

THE WEEK THAT WAS
- The Tigers defeated Seton Hall, 7-4 on Wednesday. Princeton came back from a 3-1 deficit, scoring twice in the fifth, sixth and seventh innings. With the win, the team matched its win total from last season.
- The Tigers went 1-3 vs. Navy last weekend. Princeton's only win came in game one of the Sunday doubleheader.
- In the Tigers' 4-1 win on Sunday afternoon, junior Cody Phillips went 2-for-2 with two RBI and a run scored. Junior Nick Hernandez registered a team-high three hits while senior Danny Hoy had two hits, a run scored and a RBI. Senior Cameron Mingo went all seven innings, surrendering five hits and one earned run.
- Navy took two 1-0 decisions and a 7-0 victory over Princeton during the weekend series.
ON A ROLL
- Over the past four games, junior Danny Baer has three hits in his last nine at-bats, adding a home run
- In the past week, Hoy (.250) leads the team with five hits. Hernandez and senior Billy Arendt each had four hits.
ON THE HILL
- Junior Chris Giglio scored his first career win in the team's victory over Seton Hall.
- In his three innings, the junior did not allow a hit and retired the final eight Pirates batters he faced. In 16 and 2/3 innings, Giglio has given up just one earned run (0.54 ERA)
- Mingo registered the team's only victory against Navy on Sunday.
- After allowing a run in the third, the senior sent Navy down in order in the fourth inning. Following a single to begin the fifth, he got a line-out double play to finish off the threat. A strikeout completed the sixth inning, leaving the Midshipmen with a runner on. Mingo wrapped up the victory for Princeton by sending Navy down in order again in the seventh inning.
- Princeton has seven pitchers that have posted an ERA under 4.00 this season.
- The Tigers have three starting pitchers with ERA's under 4.00 in junior Keelan Smithers(1.00 ERA), Mingo (3.52) and senior Luke Strieber (3.52).
BATTING AROUND
- Hernandez leads the team in hits (18), batting average (.286) and is second in total bases (20).
- Hoy has a team-best two home runs, nine runs scored and 23 total bases this year.
- Freshmen Joseph Flynn's slash line stands at .255/.367/.333. His on-base percentage is tops among the Tigers.
- Junior Paul Tupper, Flynn and Baer also have home runs for Princeton.
- Five different Tigers have at least seven RBI.
SCOUTING DARTMOUTH AND HARVARD
- The Big Green come into this weekend at 5-14 on the season. Dartmouth has scored non-conference victories over Bucknell, Lehigh, Maine, Stetson and USF.
- Dartmouth was swept by the No. 1 team in the country, Florida. The Big Green dropped a 4-3 decision in game two of the series in 12 innings and suffered an 8-6 loss in game three.
- Among players that qualify for the league leaders, Joe Purritano leads the Big Green with a .276 batting average and .354 on-base percentage. He is tied for the team lead in hits with Michael Ketchmark.
- Dartmouth's Matt Feinstein has eight runs in 12 games. This year, Feinstein has a .385/.467/.436 slash line in 39 at-bats.
- Patrick Peterson (not the Arizona Cardinals' cornerback) has a team-low 1.76 ERA in 15 1/3 innings.
- Duncan Robinson's 29 strikeouts leads Dartmouth in 27 innings. Robinson is 2-2 with a 4.00 ERA and two complete games this year.
- Dartmouth went 21-22 last season and 16-4 in the Ivy League. The team lost in three games to Columbia in the Ivy League Championship Series.
- Harvard is 7-10 this year. The Crimson has recorded wins over Saint Peter's, Wake Forest, UMass, Army and Albany.
- The Crimson also battled No. 1 Florida with the Gators taking all three games.
- Harvard's Matt Rothenberg 's .375 batting average is tied for third in the Ivy League. As a team, the Crimson had a league-best .263 average.
- The Crimson's John Fallon tops the Ivy League in RBI (18) and is tied atop the conference in home runs (four).
- Nick Gruener's 10.5 K/BB ratio is the 12th highest in in all of Division I. He's 3-1 with a 2.48 on the season. His three wins is tied for the most in the conference.
- Harvard went 18-24 last year and 7-13 in the Ivy League.
