BOSTON – The No. 20 Princeton women's water polo team scored 13-6 victory over the No. 22 Marist Red Foxes and then defeated No. 16 Harvard, 12-8 during day one at Harvard Invitational today. The Tigers will take on Iona tomorrow at 10:30 a.m.

Sophomore Chelsea Johnson scored four goals for the second straight game to lead Princeton in scoring. Sophomore Haley Wan had three goals and two assists while freshman Lindsey Kelleher led the squad with three assists and two steals. Sophomore Helena van Brande made 11 saves in the victory. She has 32 saves over her last three games.
Ahead by one goal in the first quarter, tallies from Wan and Johnson pushed the women's water polo team's lead to three before heading into the second stanza in front, 4-2. The Tigers' defense held the Red Foxes to one goal in the period while adding four more to take an 8-3 advantage in to halftime. Marist got within three in the second half, but head coach Luis Nicolao's team put the game away with another four-goal outburst over a 2:39 span of the final quarter to take the contest, 13-6.

Kelleher scored a career-high four goals to lead the Tigers. Sophomore Sydney Cheong, Britt and Wan each had four-point contests. Wan added three steals while eight different players drew an ejection.
The Tigers found themselves down by an early 2-0 deficit in the first quarter, but quickly rattled off back-to-back tallies. The home team would take a 3-2 lead into the second quarter, but Princeton scored five times in the frame to take a 7-5 lead at the intermission.
Princeton would keep its distance from Harvard out of halftime, leading 10-7 after three quarters. The Crimson got within two over the final eight minutes, but the Tigers scored the final two goals to take the contest, 12-8.
