Johnson and Kelleher Nab CWPA Weekly Honors

PRINCETON, N.J. – It's been a stellar week for the Johnson household. A few days after Ashleigh Johnson was named an AAU Sullivan semifinalist, her sister, Chelsea, was selected as the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA)'s National Player of the Week. Freshman Lindsey Kelleher was picked as the Rookie of the Week.
Johnson began the Harvard Invitational weekend with her second consecutive four-goal outing to lead Princeton in scoring as the team dropped No. 22 Marist, 13-6. The sophomore continued her stellar play with two goals and an assist as the Tigers beat the host, No. 16 Harvard, 12-8. Johnson added a goal in the team's 13-3 victory over Iona as the Tigers completed the weekend sweep. Johnson is one of seven Tigers to have scored at least 10 goals this season and has drawn nine ejections along with snagging seven steals.
Kelleher made a huge impact as the Tigers swept its three opponents at the Harvard Invitational. Kelleher scored once and had a team-high three assists as the Tigers defeated No. 22 Marist, 13-6. A few hours later, Kelleher helped take down No. 16 Harvard, 12-8 with a career-high four goals. The South Pasadena, Calif., native also had an assist in the game. The freshmen tallied a team-best three goals in Princeton's 13-3 win over Iona on Sunday along with two assists. Kelleher is tied for second on the team in goals (17), assists (15), and steals (12).
The No. 20 ranked Princeton women's water polo team will travel to San Diego State this weekend. The Tigers take on the host, San Diego State, on Saturday at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Princeton will battle UC-San Diego (1:15 p.m.) and Chapman (6:15 p.m.).
