No. 16 Women's Water Polo Picks Up First CWPA Win Over No. 15 Harvard

ANN ARBOR, Mich. – Five different players scored as the No. 16 Princeton women's water polo team picked up a 9-7 victory over the No. 15 Harvard Crimson at the Canham Natatorium in Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) play on Sunday morning.
Junior Morgan Hallock, sophomore Haley Wan, freshmen Eliza Britt and Lindsey Kelleher had two goals each. Sophomore goalie Helena van Brande came up with seven saves in the win.
Just like the first time these two CWPA rivals met in March, Harvard jumped ahead with the game's first goal. Trailing 1-0, Hallock outswam everyone and scored a tally on a 1v1 against the Harvard goaltender. The two schools went back and forth in the first quarter as the first eight minutes featured seven goals. Wan lifted a ball over the Crimson goalie, but Harvard countered 24 seconds later to make it 2-2. The Tigers would get goals from Britt and Kelleher to take 4-3 advantage after one quarter. Kelleher's tally would come with just two seconds on the clock.
Kelleher's second of the contest put the Tigers in front by two (5-3) with 4:54 left in the first half. Cheong helped the became the Tigers improve their advantage to 6-3 at the 3:28 mark of the second quarter. Following a Harvard goal, Hallock added a buzzer-beater as she scored similarly to her first tally on a 1v1 with the goalie to give a Princeton a 7-4 lead at halftime.
Britt was the third Tiger to score two goals as she tallied the first one of the second half. Harvard got on the board with the next two to set the score at 8-6 after three frames. A five-meter penalty shot from Wan pushed the Princeton lead back to three at 4:35 remaining in the game. Harvard made one last push, getting within two with 1:23 to go, but could not get closer as the Princeton won its first CWPA match of the season.
