Coach Billy Pate on the match: "Credit to Columbia. They played well on their home court. I'm not disappoined with the effort. We playd extremely hard and fought until the end. However, we just didn't execute some key points and found ourselves behind. Nonetheless, I really felt if Alex had secured teh second set (he had a set point), we would have had the momentum to turn the corner. Tom and Luke were possibly about to close their matches out and Jimmy was making a push to win the second set. Eric Rubin for Columbia is very experienced and did a good job of stopping our momentum. We'll have a good practice tomorrow and prepare for our last home match of the season Sunday against a very good and dangerous Cornell team. Clearly, for us to even have a chance to make the NCAAs, we'll need to win out and the first step in that is having a great performance Sunday." |
