Lightweight Women Send Off Seniors With Win, Head To Sprints With Momentum
April 23, 2016 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
While the victory itself was special, there were two other significant positives to come out of Saturday morning. The Tigers were able to send seniors Phoebe Huang, Gabriella Pezzini, and Helen Stillwell out as victors during their final race on Lake Carnegie, and they also picked up some final momentum as they head into next Sunday's EAWRC Championships on Lake Quinsigamond.
The varsity eight made its move early on the Hoyas and claimed a significant lead midway through the race. The Tiger 2V was also involved, and they tried to make a late charge at the Hoyas, but both fell well back of the Tiger varsity boat. Princeton took the race in 7:16.9, just over 10 seconds faster than the Georgetown boat. The Princeton 2V finished in 7:33.4, about seven seconds behind Georgetown.
The fours were a much tighter race, but Princeton had the goods in that one as well. Princeton took it in 8:36.2, 1.3 seconds faster than Georgetown.
