O'Dell Lands Fifth in Hammer Throw at Penn Relays

PHILADELPHIA, Pa. (4/28/16) - The Princeton women's track & field team kicked off the 122nd Penn Relays this afternoon at Franklin Field.
Sophomore Kennedy O'Dell was fifth the college hammer throw with a throw of 52.35 (171-9). It came on her 4th and final throw. She also had a 51.49 on her third attempt, 46.66 on her first and fouled on her second. Teammate senior Brielle Rowe was 13th with a mark of 49.88 (163-7), and had two throws over 49 meters. Rowe also competed in the college-level discus and placed 14th with a toss of 42.45 (139-3). It was her only countable throw, as she had two fouls.
Senior Taylor Morgan tied for eighth in the high jump clearing 1.67 (5-5.75). She easily cleared 1.59 and 1.63 on her first attempts and then 1.67 on her second.Two hurdlers competed in the 400 hurdles, with freshman Carly Bonnet leading the charge. She clocked 1:04.18 to take ninth in Section 3 to place 40th overall, while senior Meghan McMullin was eighth in Section 5 at 1:05.03 to take 45th.
The 4x400 qualified for the college finals after the opening heats. Junior Elissa Steele, sophomore Quinn Parker, McMullin and senior Cecilia Barowski clocked 3:43.61 to take 11th. They just missed making the championship final by 1.64 seconds. The college final will be at 5:35 on Saturday.
