Women's Lightweights Fall To Top Two Squads At San Diego Crew Classic
April 03, 2016 | Women's Rowing - Lightweight
The fifth-ranked Princeton women's lightweight rowing team has faced the top three teams in the country over the last two weekends and have gotten a good measuring stick for where they currently stand in their rebuild process.
One week after falling to Radcliffe in The Class of 1999 Cup regatta on Lake Carnegie, Princeton took third in the women's lightweight final Sunday during the San Diego Crew Classic.
Reigning IRA national champion and top-ranked Stanford won in comfortable fashion with a time of 7:16.80, while second-ranked Boston University finished second in 7:28.92. Princeton, in the early stages of its rebuild season, took third in 7:41.32.
Princeton will make a much shorter trip next weekend; the Tigers will head to nearby Mercer Lake — site of the 2016 IRA Championships — for the Knecht Cup Sunday.
