Kanoff, Rhattigan, Williams Voted Tri-Captains For 2016 Football Season
April 06, 2016 | Football
Rising seniors Chad Kanoff, Joe Rhattigan and Dorian Williams were named tri-captains for the 2016 Princeton football team following the final practice of the spring season.
"I'm really excited for these three guys, and I think they'll be great captains for our team," said Bob Surace, the Charles W. Caldwell Jr. '25 Head Coach of Football. "I love the attitude, effort, and leadership that they have shown this entire offseason. I think there were a number of really good candidates from this senior class, and we'll certainly expect leadership from the entire group, but I'm thrilled with the choices of Chad, Joey and Dorian."
Kanoff is coming off his first season as the Princeton starting quarterback, and he became the first Tiger in nearly a quarter century to win his first four starts. He threw for 2,295 yards last season, the sixth-most in Princeton history, and he completed 57.2 percent of passes with eight touchdowns.
Rhattigan broke out of a crowded backfield to earn second-team All-Ivy League honors after ranking fourth in the Ivy League with 68 rushing yards per game. He finished the season with 612 yards over nine games, and he averaged 5.0 yards per carry, third-best among all running backs in the Ivy Top 10.
Williams, the most experienced member of the 2016 Princeton roster, ranked second in the Ivy League with 91 tackles, one short of the Ivy high. He earned second-team All-Ivy League honors in his second season as a starting free safety, and he had five games with double-digit tackles, including a season-high 15 against Yale. Williams earned the Poe-Kazmaier Trophy, the top award given to a Princeton football player.
