Women's Track Earns Top-3 Finishes in 6 Events on Day 1 of Sam Howell

PRINCETON, N.J. (4/8/16) - The Princeton women's track & field team finished in the top three in six events as Day 1 of the Sam Howell Invitational was completed this evening at Weaver Stadium.
Senior Kathryn Fluehr won the final event of the night, the 10k. She ran a PR of at 34:29.59, shaving more than a second off her previous best.
In the first track event of the day, the 800, the Tigers went 3-5-6. Junior Zoe Sims was third at 2:11.44 followed by freshman Jackie Berardo's PR of 2:13.45 and then freshman Anna Jurew at 2:14.76.
Junior Katie Hanss was third in the 1500 with a PR of 4:33.29. It was the top collegiate time behind two unattached runners. Senior Melissa Renuart also put up a PR at 4:37.21
Another third-place finish came from junior Alexandra Markovich in the steeplechase. She cleared a PR by more than two seconds at 10:42.14. She was the top colleigate finisher behind two unattached steeplers.Unattached competitor Megan Curham proved she hasn't backed down from her training as she takes a year off from Princeton. She won the 5k at 16:14.85. Senior Katie Little had the best time for the Tigers at 17:23.01.
Sophomore Kennedy O'Dell and senior Brielle Rowe went 1-2 in the hammer throw. O'Dell reached 51.77 (169-10) on her final throw while Rowe threw to 50.75 (166-6) on her third attempt. They were the only two to toss over 50 meters.
Rowe grabbed another second-place finish in the discus. She threw to 44.68 (146-7) on her fourth throw. O'Dell was fourth at 41.20 (135-2) on her final throw.
Junior Ariel Becker was fourth in the javelin tossing to 36.80 (120-9) on her fifth throw.
Day 2 begins on Saturday at 11 a.m., with the shot put and track events start at noon with the 4x100.
