Final Results
Sunday saw the end of play at the Hall of Fame ITA Grass Court Invitational in Newport, R.I., with Princeton players winning four of their six singles matches on the event's final day.
"First, we would like to thank the International Tennis Hall of Fame for being such welcoming hosts to the teams competing this weekend," Princeton coach Billy Pate said. "It was a wonderful and unique experience that our players will remember for many years to come. Our guys did a great job of embracing the challenge of playing on grass with little preparation. However, I feel like we have a good number of guys that play the type of style that is conducive for success on grass. I was pleased with the results we had this weekend and it was a great way to kick off the fall season. We look forward to co-hosting the Ivy-Plus with Penn starting Friday."
Luke Gamble and Payton Holden went 3-0 in singles play on the weekend, with Gamble capping his tournament with a win over 84th-ranked Jathan Malik of Michigan. It was Gamble's second win in as many tries against an ITA-ranked opponent, with a win over 85th-ranked Tam Trinh of LSU last November. Holden and Tom Colautti won two doubles matches to claim their bracket, which concluded Saturday.
