Women's Soccer Ties Yale in Ivy League Opener

Abby Givens' 19th-minute goal stood until Yale's Aerial Chevarin had a takeaway in the 74th minute and scored to tie it, and 1-1 is where it stayed for the Princeton women's soccer team in its Ivy League opener Saturday in New Haven.
The tie is the first in the series since 1999.
Givens' goal, her second of the year, came off a corner kick, which Natalie Larkin took from Vanessa Gregoire outside the 18-yard box. Larkin sent it toward the goal, and Givens headed it home from the doorstep of the goal.
Chevarin's goal came after she won a ball just on the near side of the midfield stripe and drew goalkeeper Natalie Grossi off the line, making a move around Grossi and knocking in the equalizer.
Harvard beat Penn and Columbia beat Cornell to share the top of the Ivy so far with Brown and Dartmouth set to play Sunday. Princeton will resume its Ivy slate next Saturday at Roberts Stadium against Dartmouth at 1 p.m.
