Princeton Improves to No. 11 in Penn Monto/NFHCA Coaches' Poll; No. 8 in RPI

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers improved two spots in the most recent Penn Montco/National Field Hockey Coaches' Association (NFHCA) Coaches' Poll to No. 11 today. The Tigers also jumped to No. 8 in the NCAA RPI, up one spot from the previous week.
The field hockey team had a 2-1 week, falling to then No. 6 Maryland last Tuesday, winning its Ivy League opener 4-0 over Dartmouth on Saturday, and dropping American, 2-1 on Sunday. Princeton has two wins over top-20 teams this season, defeating then No. 12 Albany (Sept. 9) and then No. 10 Delaware (Sept. 11).
The last undefeated team in the country, Connecticut (860), is the new No. 1 team in the coaches' poll, one point in front of North Carolina (859). North Carolina had four more first place votes (18) than Connecticut while Duke and Syracuse also got first place tallies. Penn State, Northwestern, Louisville, Maryland, Michigan and Delaware finish out the top ten.
Duke has the top RPI in the country with Connecticut, North Carolina, Penn State and Syracuse round out the top five. Penn is the second highest Ivy League team in the RPI rankings, placing 15th.
The Tigers continues the 2016 season on the road this weekend at Yale on Saturday (12 p.m.) and Penn State on Sunday (2 p.m.).
