September 28, 2016 | Men's Water Polo
PRINCETON, N.J. – Junior Jordan Colina's fourth goal of the night with 2:41 left in the game proved to be the game-winner as the No. 14 Princeton defeated the St. Francis-Brooklyn Terriers, 9-8 at DeNunzio Pool on Wednesday night.
Colina's four goals are his second most of the season. Sophomore Matt Payne posted his sixth hat trick of the year while junior Vojislav Mitrovic tied the program record with 20 saves in the win. It's the third time that Mitrovic has matched the record in his career.
The Tigers jumped ahead with the first two goals of the contest and led with 4-2 after the first eight minutes. In the second quarter, St. Francis got within one (5-4), but freshman Sean Duncan's tally with 1:17 left gave Princeton a 6-4 advantage at halftime.
After Payne nabbed his hat trick with 3:49 to go in the third frame, the Terriers recorded the last two goals of the stanza to make it 7-6 after 24 minutes.
Following Colina's goal as the clock ticked under six minutes to push Princeton's lead back to two, St. Francis did not go away, tying the game with 3:29 remaining. Almost a minute later, Colina came up with a clutch tally…
