No. 14 Princeton Improves To 2-0 In NWPC; Stops Iona, 12-7

PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 14 Princeton men's polo used a balanced offensive attack to take down the Iona Gaels, 12-7, at DeNunzio Pool on Friday evening.
Six different Tigers scored in the game including five tallying at least two goals. Junior Jordan Colina registered his second straight hat trick and dished out three assists to pace the Princeton attack. Sophomore Michael Swart swiped eight passes while sophomore Ryan Melosini had eight saves in the win.
Princeton ended the first quarter with three consecutive goals to jump in front, 5-2 after eight minutes. The home team's defense stepped up in the second stanza, holding Iona to one goal en route a 9-3 lead at halftime. Princeton outscored Iona, 3-2 to open the second half and cruised to the 12-7 victory.
Head coach Luis Nicolao's squad is now 2-0 in the Northeast Water Polo Conference and 9-5 overall. The Tigers will take on No. 15 Brown at DeNunzio tomorrow (7 p.m.) before showdowns vs. No. 8 Harvard (10 a.m.) and MIT (2 p.m.) on Sunday. All matches this weekend are on the Ivy League Digital Network.
