EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton returns to action after a three-week hiatus for the holidays. The Tigers closed out 2016 winning seven of its last nine games, including five wins over ranked teams. A six-game win streak was halted by No. 19 Minnesota State on Dec. 17 after the teams split the two-game series in Princeton. Sophomore Max Véronneau leads the Tigers offensively with 21 points on six goals and a team-best 15 assists. Class and linemate Ryan Kuffner has a team-high 10 goals and seven assists for 17 points. Junior David Hallisey follows with 16 while freshman Jackson Cressey has 15. Sophomore Alex Riche, junior Eric Robinson and sophomore Josh Teves are also in double digits in scoring. Senior Colton Phinney has started in all but one game and has an .895 save percentage and a 3.48 goals against average. Junior Ben Halford earned a win at No. 10 Bemidji and has a .965 save percentage and a 1.48 GAA as the backup goaltender.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth is 4-6-3 overall, and with a 1-3-2 ECAC record sits in 10th place in the league standings. The Big Green was back in action last weekend, hosting the annual Ledyard Bank Classic. The squad played to a 2-2 tie with Army before falling 7-4 to UMass Lowell. Senior Troy Crema is the team's leading scorer with five goals and four assists for nine points. He is responsible for three of his team's four game-winning goals. Juniors Corey Kalk and Carl Hesler have seven points apiece, while four freshmen have six points apiece, including Cam Strong who scored against the Tigers in November. Junior Devin Buffalo has started all 13 games in goal and has a .905 save percentage and a 2.86 GAA. The Big Green special teams have struggled this season and combined rank 59th out of 60 nationally. They are last in the nation in power play, converting on five of 67 chances (7.5%), while the penalty kill is 55th as it has allowed 15 on 61 opportunities (75.4%).
THE PRINCETON/DARTMOUTH SERIES
Dartmouth leads the series with Princeton 102-86-15 since the teams first met nearly 110 years ago on Jan. 9, 1907. Though the teams played to a 2-2 tie in November, Princeton is still looking for its first win over the Big Green since Nov. 15, 2013. Dartmouth then won seven straight before this season's tie.
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard enters the weekend 9-2-1 overall and ranked No. 4 in the nation. With a 5-1-1 ECAC record, the Crimson are fourth in the league as well. Harvard is on a four-game win streak and most recently defeated RPI 5-1 on Dec. 30, after a 27 day break. The team has the second-highest scoring offense in the country, averaging 4.50 goals per game, while they've limited squads to 2.25 gpg. The Crimson have the best power-play in the nation a 32.1 percent (17/53), while the penalty kill is middle of the pack at 82.8 percent (48/58). The top five scorers on the team are all NHL draft picks, led by senior Alexander Kerfoot's (NJD) 20 points. Seniors Sean Malone (BUF), Tyler Moy (NSH) along with freshman Adam Fox (CGY) have 16 points apiece. Sophomore Ryan Donato (BOS) adds 15 points while two others are in double digits as well. Junior Merrick Madsen (PHI) is the only tender the team has utilized this season. He sports a .917 save percentage and a 2.16 GAA.
