Coming off of a 1-0 win over St. John's from Tuesday night, the Princeton men's soccer team returns to Ivy League action hosting No. 22 Columbia on Saturday, Oct. 14. Game time is at 4 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
Junior Jeremy Colvin scored his team-leading fourth goal against the Red Storm on Tuesday, with freshman Kevin O'Toole assisting. O'Toole ranks second on the team with four points, along with seniors Daniel Bowkett and James Reiner. Junior Will Lentz and freshman Frankie DeRosa are also targets to score. Sophomore Jacob Schachner has started in all but one game and has a 1.11 goals against average and a .745 save percentage. Schachner was given a night off for this week's mid-week game and freshman Sam Morton saw his first collegiate action. He made six saves in the shutout victory.
The Lions are 6-1-2 on the season to earn its No. 22 ranking and is 2-0 in the league with matching 3-0 shutouts over Brown and Penn. Five of Columbia's six wins have come via shutout. Dylan Castanheira has a 0.42 GAA, allowing just four goals while making 26 saves for an .867 save percentage. His defense has been outstanding as well, giving up just 8.8 shots per game. On the other end, the Lions have doubled their opponents in shots. Arthur Bosua is who Princeton will need to contain, as he has scored six of his team's 14 goals and has four assists for 16 points. Dylan Mott has five points, while John Denis, Alex Bangerl and Francisco Agrest each have four.
Columbia has the edge in the all-time series, that dates back to 1912, at 34-21-10. This year's senior class is looking for its first win over Columbia as the last three meetings have gone 0-2-1 for the Tigers. Princeton's last win was 2-1 game in 2013. Last year the Lions took a 2-1 overtime game in New York, thanks to a header by Vana Markarian in the 95th minute.
