Princeton takes on Villanova in a midweek nightcap on Wednesday, Oct. 4 at 7 p.m., on Myslik Field at Roberts Stadium.
The Tigers are 1-5-2 after opening Ivy League play this weekend at Harvard. Junior Jeremy Colvin net his third goal of the season on Saturday on a feed from junior Sean McSherry to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Senior James Reiner has scored twice and classmate Daniel Bowkett has tallied one goal and assisted on two. Senior Will Lentz and freshman Frankie DeRosa have been goal scorers this season as well. Sophomore Jacob Schachner has made 28 saves on 39 shots for a 1.24 goals against average and a .718 save percentage.
Princeton holds a 4-3 edge in the all-time series that began in 1999. Last year at Villanova the game was decided on a penalty kick in overtime, as the Wildcats converted for the 1-0 game in the 99th minute. The Tigers had the previous two wins in the series, a 1-0 game on the road in 2012Â and 2-1 double overtime game in 2011 in Princeton.
Villanova is 5-5 on the season and has lost its last two games, at Creighton and DePaul both via shutout. The team was on a three-game win streak headed into the Midwest. Senior Lucas Hodges leads the offense with four goals and three assists for 11 points. Freshman Theo Quartey has three goals and two assists, while senior Andreas Bartosinski is one point back with three strikes and one helper. Rookie Yusuf Cueceoglu has scored twice and adds two assists. Redshirt senior Will Steiner has played every minute in goal and has a 1.16 GAA and a .755 save percentage stopping 37 of 49 shots on goal.
