Freshman Stephanie Schrage and junior Nicole Kalhorn will compete Tuesday at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships held at the Riviera Tennis Club in Pacific Palisades, Calif.
The Tiger pair are in the qualifying doubles draw, which has 32 duos looking for four bids into the main draw. Schrage and Kalhorn will open against one of the two seeded teams in their quadrant of the draw, North Carolina State's fifth-seeded and 26th-ranked sophomore Anna Rogers and junior Claudia Wiktorin. With former teammate Martina Frantova, Rogers won a round in the NCAA doubles tournament a year ago, upsetting the second-four seeded pair of Christine Maddox and Mayar Sherif Ahmed of Pepperdine.
Princeton's match is set for 9 a.m. Pacific Time/12 p.m. Eastern Time Tuesday. Winners will return Wednesday to complete the qualifying doubles draw.
Kalhorn was a first-team All-Ivy League doubles honoree last year and was ranked as high as 39th in the country with former teammate Caroline Joyce '17. She and Schrage have played alongside each other twice this fall, both at the ITA Hall of Fame Grass Court event in Newport, R.I. on the season's opening weekend last month. The pair lost a close battle with 12th-ranked Alexa Graham and Jessie Aney of North Carolina 8-7 before defeating LSU's Ryann Foster and Jessica Golovin 8-5.
The winner will face either one half of the aforementioned Pepperdine duo with Ahmed and Jessica Failla, or Colorado's Chloe Hule and Louise Ronaldson.
The bracket can be found here.
