Varsity Poll
PRINCETON, N.J. – The No. 12 Princeton Tigers continue Northeast Water Polo Conference play this weekend on the road against MIT, No. 14 Harvard and No. 15 Brown.
Princeton takes on MIT (11 a.m.) and No. 14 Harvard (8 p.m.) on Saturday before a trip to No. 15 Brown on Sunday (10 a.m.). Each game will be streamed with the Harvard and Brown contest being featured on the Ivy League Network.
The Tigers have never lost to MIT in 13 meetings. Earlier this season, Princeton dropped MIT, 13-11, behind a seven-goal third quarter. Princeton is 25-5 all-time vs. Harvard including a 11-9 decision over the Crimson in September. Last year, Harvard took home two of the three meetings last season including a thrilling 14-13 victory in the NWPC Tournament. Before that, the Tigers had won 17 straight against Harvard. Princeton has won five of the last nine matchups against Brown. Three weeks ago, Matt Payne's goal with 1:12 to go proved to be the game-winner over the Bears at DeNunzio Pool.
Head coach Luis Nicolao's team jumped two spots in the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll to No. 12 this week. USC remained as the top squad in the poll, followed by Cal., UCLA, Stanford and Pacific. Harvard and Brown are right behind Princeton at No. 14 and No. 15. St. Francis-Brooklyn fell to No. 19.
Ryan Wilson leads the Tigers with 86 points and 67 assists on the season. His 67 helpers this year are the most in a single-season in program history. His 153 career assists are also the most ever in the program.
Jordan Colina is the team-leader with 50 goals and 46 steals on the season. He has four straight 50+ goal seasons and is one of only six players ever to reach the 200-goal milestone. Sean Duncan (48) and Matt Payne (48) and Michael Swart also have over 40 goals. Nicolao is three wins shy of 400 career victories with the men's water polo team.
