Asom Earns Suburban Transit/GoPrincetonTigers Athlete of the Week Honor

Mimi Asom added five points to her career total in helping the 13th-ranked Princeton women's soccer team beat Monmouth Friday night at Roberts Stadium and advance to the second round of the NCAA tournament.

Asom scored in the sixth and 66th minutes to add Princeton's first and third goals in the 4-0 win while assisting on Abby Givens' goal in the 21st minute. She and Givens now co-lead the team with 10 goals apiece, and Asom's 22 points are second only to Givens' 26.

The win was Princeton's third in a row in the first round of the NCAAs, along with wins in 2012 and 2015. The five points pushed Asom's career total to 69, good for eighth place in program history, and the two goals gave her 31, good for sixth on the program's career list.

Asom and the Tigers will take on No. 21 North Carolina State Friday at 2:30 p.m. at WakeMed Soccer Park in Cary, N.C. in the second round of the NCAA tournament.
