League Play Begins This Weekend with Colgate and Cornell

EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton opened the season on Sunday with a 4-2 win over Holy Cross, a team that came into the weekend unbeaten in five games. Senior Eric Robinson, sophomore Jackson Cressey and freshman Reid Yochim each have a goal and assist while sophomore defender Derek Topatigh has two assists. Four other skaters have a single point. Freshman Ryan Ferland got the start on Sunday and made 38 saves on 40 shots. The Tigers' penalty kill went 6 for 7, while the power play was 1 for 2.
SCOUTING THE RAIDERS
Colgate has a five-week lead over Princeton as it comes into Princeton with a 3-2-3 record. Most recently the team hosted Arizona State and won a 3-0 game before tying 1-1. Sophomore Bobby McMann leads with six points on three goals and three assists. Freshman Nick Austin and sophomore John Snodgrass both have five points, all five of Snodgrass' coming by way of assist. Colgate has used all three of its goaltenders but has leaned towards sophomore Colton Point (DAL). Point is 3-0-3 with a .955 save percentage and a 1.28 GAA. Seniors Bruce Racine and Zac Hamilton split the UNH series, both taking losses back on Oct. 13 & 14. The Raiders penalty kill has five up five on 38 chances, while its power play has struggled with three goals on 37 chances.
THE PRINCETON/COLGATE SERIES
Princeton ended Colgate's season a year ago, taking out the Raiders in the first-round series of the ECAC playoffs two games to one. Colgate has a 56-48-7 lead in the all-time series and has won the last four meetings in Hamilton including a 4-3 game last November.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell opened its season last weekend with a sweep of Alabama-Huntsville at Lynah Rink at is ranked No. 18 in the latest USCHO national poll. Half of the team's eight goals has come on the power play, as they are 4 for 13. The penalty kill has yet to give up a goal, going 12 for 12. Senior Trevor Yates has three goals and one assist, while sophomore Jeff Malott has scored twice. Five other skaters have two points including last year's leading scorer Mitch Vanderlaan. Freshman Matthew Galajda started in both games and allowed just one goal on 40 shots.
THE PRINCETON/CORNELL SERIES
Cornell holds an 87-52-8 lead in the all-time series, including wins in the last five meetings. Last November, the Big Red took a 4-2 game, coming back from a two-goal deficit and then a 5-1 game in January. Princeton's last win in the series was a 2-1 game in November 2014 at Hobey Baker Rink.
