Tigers Pull Away From Lafayette
November 22, 2017 | Men's Basketball
Princeton scored 15 straight points around the midway point of the second half and kept Lafayette off the board for nearly four and a half minutes as the Tigers pulled away from the Leopards in a 60-46 win Wednesday night in Jadwin Gym.
The run, fueled in largest part by two Sebastian Much threes and five points from Aaron Young, turned a 35-33 Tiger deficit into a 48-35 lead, and Princeton never led by fewer than 10 after that.
Devin Cannady led Princeton with 17 points, continuing his run of putting up double figures in every game on the young season. Freshman Much had a career-high 10 points, all in nine second-half minutes off the bench.
Princeton found success on the glass, outrebounding Lafayette 37-24 overall and grabbing 10 offensive rebounds to just one for the Leopards. Cannady and Mike LeBlanc paced Princeton in that stat with a game-high seven boards. That advantage led to a 14-0 Princeton edge in second-chance points, and although both teams had 12 turnovers, Princeton had a 16-6 advantage in points off those miscues.
In outscoring Lafayette 33-17 after the break, Princeton upped its shooting clip from 33.3 percent in the first half to 44.4 in the second while clamping down on Lafayette to a 28 percent clip in the second half after seeing the Leopards shoot 50 percent on the way to a lead that grew as large as six points in the closing minutes of the first half.
The Tigers will make the trip to North Jersey to face Fairleigh Dickinson (3-2) Sunday at 2 p.m.
