Princeton Swimming & Diving Heads To Virginia, Faces Ranked Pair Of Opponents

One week before opening their respective Ivy League seasons in Philadelphia, the Princeton men's and women's swimming and diving teams will head to Charlottesville to compete in the two-Day Virginia Invitational. The weekend tri-meet will feature three sessions, including two on Friday, and will test both Tiger squads against nationally ranked opponents.
The Princeton men, who opened their season last weekend with a victory over Nova Southeastern, will take on No. 17 Louisville and No. 23 Virginia. The Tigers had impressive early efforts from the likes of Cole Buese and Ben Schafer last weekend, but they also got a strong debut from freshman Corey Lau, who won both the 100 and 200 breast events.
The Princeton women also started off strong last weekend, with wins over both Miami and Nova Southeastern. The Tigers got five victories from their talented freshman class, while captains Joanna Curry and Maddie Veith also provided individual wins. The level of competition will be raised significantly this weekend; Louisville enters the meet ranked 10th nationally, while the host Cavaliers are ranked 16th.
These will be Princeton's final meets before the 2017-18 Ivy League season begins next weekend. The Tiger men will take on both Penn and Cornell in Philadelphia on Friday, Nov. 17, at 3 pm, while the women will have their tri-meet with both schools in Philadelphia on Saturday, Nov. 18, at noon.
