The Princeton Tigers men's swimming and diving team will welcome Columbia Saturday for the 2017-18 home finale.
Well, it's kind of the home finale.
Tomorrow's Ivy League meet, which will be streamed live on the Ivy League Network at 1 pm, between Princeton (5-2, 4-0 Ivy) and Columbia (3-1, 2-1 Ivy) will be the final time the Tiger men will compete in DeNunzio during the regular season. However, the best swimmers and divers in the league will be right here Feb. 21-24 when the 2018 Ivy League Championships return to DeNunzio.
We have a long way to go before we get to the Ivy Championships, so let's focus on the here and now. Princeton enters Saturday's meet having won four straight, including duals over both Dartmouth and Brown that took place during last weekend's Big Al Open. Senior tri-captain Ben Schafer (50 free, 100 fly) and freshman Levy Nathan (500, 1650 free) were both double-winners for Princeton, while juniors Cole Buese (200 fly), Tyler Lin (100 breast) and Murphy McQuet (200 free) were also victors for the Tigers.
Princeton also took the 400 medley and 400 free relays during the weekend, which ended with the Tiger men scoring 1291.5 points to lap the field.
Columbia, which also competed at the Big Al last weekend, already has Ivy League wins over both Yale and Penn this season. Senior Jae Park won the 200 breast at the Big Al, while junior teammate Shane Brett won the 400 IM. Arguably the most impressive performance for Columbia came in diving, as freshman Jonathan Suckow swept the 1- and 3-meter competitions and set a Lions record with 430.35 points on the 3-meter board.
