Women's Tennis Team Tops Columbia in ECAC Opener
February 11, 2017 | Women's Tennis
Four singles wins lifted the Princeton women's tennis team to a 4-2 win over Columbia Saturday afternoon to open the ECAC Championship at Harvard.
The Tigers will face Cornell at 9 a.m. Sunday, and with the championship decided by standings, Princeton will be in the mix for the title with a win.
Though Columbia took the first two doubles matches and first singles match to be decided to claim the afternoon's first two points, Caroline Joyce and Nicole Kalhorn had wins at third and fifth to tie it, and Katrine Steffensen and Tiffany Chen got Princeton to the clincher.
Dartmouth and Harvard were also winners Saturday. If Princeton were to win and be tied with either or both of those teams at 2-0, the first tiebreaker to decide the ECAC Championship title would be percentage of sets won, followed by percentage of games won. Dartmouth-Columbia follows Princeton's match against Cornell with Harvard-Brown as the last match of the day Sunday.
Order of finish: Doubles: 2, 1; Singles: 2, 5, 3, 1, 4
