SENIOR DAY
Princeton will honor its eight seniors: Hayden Anderson, Tommy Davis, Ben Foster, Colton Phinney, Quin Pompi, Marlon Sabo, Ryan Siiro and Garrett Skrbich prior to Saturday's game.
EYE ON THE TIGERS
The Tigers had a six-game unbeaten streak halted last weekend in a road trip to Rensselaer and Union. Princeton looks to end the regular on a high note, as it is still in contention for home ice in the first round of the playoffs, being able to finish anywhere between 7-10. The Tigers are 11-13-3 overall and 6-11-3 in the league to currently sit in a tie for ninth with place - along with Colgate - with 15 points, just one back from eighth place Dartmouth. Sophomore Max Véronneau leads the offense with 29 points on eight goals and 21 assists, while linemate Ryan Kuffner has 28 points on a team-high 15 goals and 13 assists. Freshman Jackson Cressey also has 28 points on six goals and a team-best 22 helpers. Junior David Hallisey isn't far behind with 25 points, while sophomore defender Josh Teves, junior Eric Robinson and sophomore Alex Riche are also in double digits. Senior Colton Phinney is 10-13-3 in goal and has a .903 save percentage and a 3.29 goals against average.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown is 4-21-2 overall and last in the ECAC standings with a 3-16-1 record. Since skating to a 3-3 tie with Princeton on Feb. 4, the Bears have gone 0-4. Brown allows the most goals in the league, at a clip of 4.07, while scoring 2.26 gpg. Junior Sam Lafferty (PIT) leads the offense with 32 points on 11 goals and 21 assists. Junior Charlie Corcoran has a team-high 14 goals and 11 assists, while junior Max Willman (BUF) has 10 goals and 23 assists. Brent Beaudoin leads the rookies in scoring with 11 points, while sophomore Max Gottlieb leads defenders in points with eight. Freshman Gavin Nieto has played in 24 games and has an .881 save percentage and a 3.85 GAA. Senior Tim Ernst, who has appeared in the last two games, and nine overall has a 3.70 GAA and an .875 save percentage. Both special teams rank last in the nation, as the power play is 9 for 105 (8.6%) and the penalty kill is 93 for 129 (72.1%).
THE PRINCETON/BROWN SERIES
Princeton is unbeaten in the last three games with Brown, 1-0-2. Last year at Hobey Baker Rink, the teams skated to a 2-2 tie, following a 4-2 Princeton win on the road. The teams played to a 3-3 tie in Providence earlier this month as the Bears took a 3-0 lead before the Tigers stormed back to tie the game with three straight. Jackson Cressey and Max Véronneau were the only two skaters in the game to have two points. Princeton outshot Brown 37-26 with Gavin Nieto saving 34 and Colton Phinney stopping 23. All-time Brown leads 86-67-11 since 1900.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS
Yale enters the weekend with an 11-11-5 record and is seventh in the league standings with a 7-9-4 mark, just three points ahead of Princeton. After a six-game winning streak was halted in a 4-2 loss to Princeton, Yale has struggled going 1-3-1. Yale averages 2.96 gpg and allows 2.89. The power play ranks 26th nationally at 18.7 percent (23/123) while the penalty kill is 36th at 81.9 percent (104/127). Sophomore Joe Snively and senior John Hayden (CHI) are responsible for more than a quarter of the team's point production. Snively has 10 goals and 21 assists, while Hayden has 18 goals and 12 assists. Both Frankie DiChiara and Ryan Hitchcock have 19 points apiece. Yale has been leaning towards freshman Sam Tucker in goal lately, as he has gotten the starting nod in four of the last six games. Tucker has a 3-5-1 record with a 3.02 GAA and an .893. He earned his first career shutout last weekend in a 4-0 win over Dartmouth. Senior Patrick Spano has been in goal for two of the last six games and has a .904 save percentage and a 2.63 GAA, along with an 8-6-4 record.
THE PRINCETON/YALE SERIES
Princeton earned a 4-2 win at Yale earlier this month. David Hallisey assisted on all four goals, while Eric Robinson and Ryan Kuffner each scored twice. Yale is 140-105-11 in the all-time series since the teams first met in 1901. Shots in the game fell 41-38 in favor of the Tigers with Colton Phinney stopped 36 shots while Sam Tucker turned away 37. The Tigers have not beaten the Bulldogs at Hobey Baker Rink since 2009.
