North Dakota, UC Davis and St. Mary's are on the schedule for the Princeton softball team as the spring trip begins Saturday in California.
Princeton will have doubleheaders each day Saturday and Sunday at the Aggie Invitational II, facing North Dakota Saturday at 2 p.m. ET and host UC Davis at 6:30 p.m. ET. Sunday, the Tigers will take on Saint Mary's at 2 p.m. ET followed by a rematch against UC Davis at 4:15 p.m. ET. Links for live stats are available at the Tournament Central page, above.
Princeton (1-3) has played one weekend so far, opening its season with four games in Houston on the first weekend of March. The final game of that weekend was cancelled due to weather, as was Towson's tournament the following weekend in Maryland that was due to feature three games for the Tigers. A pair of freshmen lead the Tigers in batting average, with Megan Donahey going 6 for 9 in Houston to win Ivy Rookie of the Week honors and Allison Harvey going 6 for 12. All five pitchers saw action for Princeton in that first weekend, with senior Claire Klausner picking up the win against Sam Houston State.
North Dakota (10-15) will play its final games this weekend before opening Big Sky play at Montana on the final weekend of March. The schedule so far has taken UND to Louisiana, Florida, Alabama, South Carolina and California to play the team's 25 games since opening Feb. 10. Junior Kaylin Van Domelen has accrued a 1.62 ERA to lead UND while playing in 14 games and making 11 starts.
UC Davis (9-17), meanwhile, hasn't left California. Senior Taylor Peters leads the Aggies with a .402 batting average, starting all 26 games, while rookie Katie Kibby has a team-best 2.66 ERA with 13 starts among her 15 appearances.
St. Mary's (10-12), like UND and UC Davis, started its season the second weekend of February, though the Gaels have left California in playing games in Arizona and Nevada over the season's first month. Nikki Alexander leads the Gaels with a .333 batting average while starting all 22 games, and Katie Moss has a 2.65 ERA with a 6-4 record in a team-best 63 1/3 innings.
After the tournament, Princeton will continue its spring trip with doubleheaders Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday against Pacific, St. Mary's and San Jose State before having next weekend away from competition with Ivy League play set to begin March 31 against Brown.
