Johnson and Wan Honored With CWPA Weekly Awards

PRINCETON, N.J. – Ashleigh Johnson was selected the Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Defensive Player of the Week while Haley Wan was honored as the conference's Offensive Player of the Week. It's Johnson's 18th career accolade as Defensive Player of the Week. Wan picked up her second career Offensive Player of the Week award.
In Princeton's first four games in California, Wan was the team's standout performer, posting 12 goals. On Saturday, the Tigers picked up a 5-4 victory over No. 12 San Diego State as she snagged the game-winner with 3:09 to go. No. 6 Arizona State held off Princeton, 7-6, later in the day, but the junior did collect a hat trick.
On Sunday, Princeton rattled off two more victories with a 7-3 decision over No. 22 CSU Bakersfield and 11-8 result over the Cal State East Bay Pioneers with Wan combining for seven tallies.
Johnson continues her sparkling senior season as she posted 16 saves in back-to-back games vs. No. 12 San Diego State and No. 6 Arizona State. The senior finished with an 18-save performance vs. No. 22 CSU Bakersfield and nine stops vs. Cal State East Bay.
Princeton will take on No. 15 Long Beach State tonight (10 p.m./7:00 p.m. PT) before a matchup vs. No. 1 USC on the PAC-12 Network (8 p.m./5 p.m. PT).
