Women's Soccer Team to Host Spring Games in April
March 28, 2017 | Women's Soccer
Along with an April 1 alumnae game, the Princeton women's soccer team will have three dates of spring games in April on Plummer Field in Roberts Stadium.Â
Drexel will visit for the first of those on April 14 at 7:30 p.m. with Army West Point coming by on April 21 at 7 p.m. and Seton Hall and Rutgers visiting on April 30. Princeton-Seton Hall will lead off the afternoon at 4:30 with Rutgers at 7:30 and Seton Hall-Rutgers in between at 6. The April 1 alumnae game is set for a 4:30 p.m. start.
The Tigers bring back 19 of their 30 goals from last season despite graduating two-time Ivy League Offensive Player of the Year and 2015 NSCAA All-America Tyler Lussi, who led the team with 10 last fall. Rising junior Mimi Asom is the team's leading returner with nine goals in 2016. She enters the second half of her career just short of the midway point to both the program's career goals and points records, held by Lussi at 53 goals and 122 points. Asom has put up 21 goals and 47 points through her first two seasons.
Overall, Princeton returns eight of the 12 players to start at least nine games a year ago, including rising sophomore Natalie Grossi, who became the first Tiger freshman in more than 20 years to start a majority of the team's games in goal. Grossi held opponents to less than a goal per game with an 0.93 GAA.
