As Battle for Ivy Title Continues, Women's Tennis Team to Host Yale, Brown This Weekend
April 11, 2017 | Women's Tennis
The first two weekends of Ivy League play have done little to provide much of a spread in the Ivy standings as the midpoint of the league season approaches this weekend.
Harvard leads the league at 3-0, but Cornell, Brown and Princeton are all one match back at 2-1. Dartmouth, Penn and Columbia are all 1-2 with Yale at 0-3.
One of the teams with which the Tigers are tied will be coming to the Lenz Tennis Center this weekend with Princeton and Brown set for a 2 p.m. match Saturday. First, Princeton will host Yale in a 2 p.m. match Friday. If inclement weather finds its way to Princeton this weekend, the matches will be indoors in Jadwin Gym. Admission is free. The team will be providing updates through its Twitter feed @PrincetonTennis.
This week's ITA rankings found a return of the Tiger doubles duo of Caroline Joyce and Nicole Kalhorn to the rankings at No. 87. The pair are Princeton's winningest in dual matches on the season at 8-3. Kalhorn also leads the team in singles wins in dual-match play at 9-2, including a 5-1 mark on court four.
Princeton has won the last four in the series against Yale, and the Bulldogs will enter looking to break a three-match skid since the beginning of Ivy League play.
Brown won last year's meeting 4-3 in Providence, breaking a four-match Tiger winning streak in the series. Princeton has won two in a row over the Bears at home with Brown's last win in Princeton coming in 2011.
The weekend is the second to last of the regular season and the last home matches for Princeton's three seniors - Joyce, Sivan Krems and Alanna Wolff - before the Tigers head on the road to Harvard and Dartmouth next weekend.
