A Message from the Tigers
On our international trip to Cape Town, the Princeton Women's Lacrosse team had the opportunity to spend a day at Baphumelele, a temporary shelter for vulnerable/orphaned children and young adults with chronic diseases and HIV/AIDS. We decided to dedicate this game to raising money to donate to Mama Rosie's amazing community project in the Khayelitsha township. Please consider donating and learning more about this incredible cause at baphumelele.org.za
Eye on the Tigers
With an 11-3 overall record and a strong strength of schedule, Princeton ranks No. 4 in NCAA RPI and No. 6 in this week's IWLCA national poll. A win today over Columbia, will give the Tigers at least a share of the Ivy League title - their 13th title and fourth consecutive. Highlighting that class is senior Olivia Hompe on offense. She leads the nation in goals per game, at 3.86, is fourth in the nation in points per game, second in shots per game and fourth in free-position percentage. Hompe has 76 points on 54 goals and 22 assists this season. Eight other players are in double digits in scoring with freshman Tess D'Orsi and junior Colby Chanencuk next on the list. D'Orsi has scored 34 goals and nine assists, while Chanenchuk has dished out the most assists on the team with 30 and has scored 11 goals, including the game winner in double overtime at Cornell last weekend. Senior Ellie DeGarmo is second in the nation in save per game, averaging 12.07 per game, and is third in the save percentage with a .550 save percentage.
The Series
Princeton is undefeated in the all-time series with Columbia, winning all 19 meetings. Last year the Tigers took a 14-9 game in Columbia, while the last meeting in Princeton resulted in a 12-6 victory.
Scouting the Lions
Columbia is 7-7 on the season and 2-4 in the Ivy League with wins over Dartmouth and Yale. Junior Victoria Kalamaras has 59 points, scoring 19 goals and assisting on 40. Sophomore Lindsey Ewertsen follows with 42 points on 30 goals and 12 assists and has the most caused turnovers with 31. Sophomore Laine Parsons has 35 points, while senior Caroline Joy has 26.
