Women's Tennis Team to Host Cornell Friday, Visit Columbia Sunday
April 04, 2017 | Women's Tennis
Ending a run of six matches away from campus, the Princeton women's tennis team will play at home for the first time since Feb. 15 when Cornell comes to town Friday at 2 p.m.
The match will be indoors in Jadwin Gym due to rain. The team's Twitter account, @PrincetonTennis, will provide updates and the match will be video streamed via the Ivy League Digital Network.
Being on the road hasn't been a problem for the Tigers (10-6, 1-0), who will bring a four-match winning streak into the weekend. That includes last Saturday's Ivy League opener for the three-time defending league champions, a 5-2 win at Penn.
Sunday, the team will head to Columbia for a 1 p.m. match. Princeton faced both teams in the ECAC Championship in February, losing 4-2 to Cornell after defeating Columbia by the same score. That match will also be streamed on the ILDN.
Rookie Clare McKee and sophomore Nicole Kalhorn co-lead the team with eight wins in dual-match play, and Kalhorn and senior Caroline Joyce have a 7-2 record together in doubles during the dual season.
Cornell (11-4, 1-0) has won seven in a row since its last loss on a visit to SEC country at Arkansas on Feb. 20, and the Big Red opened Ivy play with a 7-0 win over Columbia last weekend. The Lions (4-11, 0-1) will head to Penn Friday.
The Tigers are unbeaten in Ivy League play against Cornell since 1996, and the Big Red's ECAC win over the Tigers earlier this season was the team's first win over Princeton since the 1997 ECACs. Princeton has won the last two against Columbia since a Lion win during the 2015 Ivy League season.
