Â
The Tigers rattled off three straight victories before a 4-2 loss to No. 5 Penn State. An overtime loss to No. 2 Duke was sandwiched between two more Ivy League victories. After an 8-0 win over Towson to finish the non-conference portion of the schedule, Princeton dropped consecutive overtime decisions to Harvard and Cornell. The Tigers finished the regular season with a 6-1 win over Penn.
Â
No stranger to the NCAA Tournament, Princeton took a different route to get there this season as it received the program's first-ever at-large bid. The Tigers took down No. 5 Penn State (2-1) on the road to reach the NCAA Quarterfinals.
Â
Sophomore Sophia Tornetta then laced a shot into the back of the cage as time expired to send the Tigers to the Final Four with a 3-2 victory over the No. 7 Virginia Cavaliers. The eventual national champion, Delaware, defeated Princeton, 3-2 in the Final Four.
