McCarthy Selected to 2018 U.S. National Development Team

PRINCETON, N.J. – Senior captain Ryan McCarthy has been selected to the 2018 United States Field Hockey National Development squad, the organization announced today.

After three days of training sessions (Jan. 14-16), McCarthy was one of 21 players selected from the original group of 34. With the potential promising, the U.S. Women's National Development Squad accounts for the transitional phase between the U-21 USWNT and the senior USWNT.

The senior completed her final season with Princeton in remarkable fashion, earning a second team All-America accolade, the first of her career. She had 17 goals and 37 points in 2017, which put her in the top 30 nationally in both categories, leading to her being selected as the 2017 Ivy Offensive Player of the Year. After scoring 12 goals in her first two seasons, McCarthy registered 31 tallies in her final two campaigns. She sits in the program's top-10 in career points (100), combined goals and assists (57) and goals (43).
