No. 14 Princeton Participating In Crimson Invite This Weekend

PRINCETON, N.J. – The Princeton Tigers head back to Boston this weekend to take part in the Crimson Invitational (Oct. 13-14).
Princeton will take on the University of Toronto (10:30 a.m.) in an exhibition and Claremont Mudd-Scripps (8 p.m.) on Saturday (Oct. 13) before finishing with a contest vs. Bucknell (9:30 a.m.) on Sunday (Oct. 14). The Tigers have never lost to Claremont Mudd-Scripps (2-0) with the last meeting coming in
2013. Princeton is 46-15 all-time against Bucknell, having won seven of the last eight against the Bison. Each game at the Crimson Invitational will be streamed on ESPN+.
Head coach Dustin Livtak's team currently sits fourth in the Northeast Water Polo Conference standings after a 1-2 road trip last weekend against MIT, Harvard and Brown. The Crimson are No. 1 with a 5-2 record, followed by St. Francis-Brooklyn (4-1), Brown (4-2) and Princeton (3-4). MIT (1-5) and Iona (0-4) round out the conference.
Matt Payne leads the squad with 38 goals and 60 points. He now has 203 career goals, recently passing Thomas Nelson for the seventh all-time. Ryan Wilson's 30 helpers pace Princeton as he is the program's all-time leader in assists (202). Alec Mendelsohn is second on the squad with 21 goals, adding 10 assists, 10 steals and eight drawn ejections.
The Tigers have six other players with at least 10 goals. Wilson (19 goals, 13 steals, 21 drawn ejections) and Keller Maloney (18 goals, 19 assists, 12 steals and 20 drawn ejections) are the only two players to have at least double digits in four categories. Wilson also leads the group with 12 sprint victories. Ryan Melosini and Billy Motherway have shared time at goalie with the two combining for .517 save percentage.
Princeton dropped to No. 14 in the latest Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) Varsity Poll, the organization announced today. Stanford improved to No. 1, jumping from No. 3. UCLA, USC, California and UC-Santa Barbara round out the top five. Harvard remains the top NWPC team at No. 10, followed by Brown at No. 13 and Princeton.
