October 15, 2018 | Field Hockey
PRINCETON, N.J. – Julianna Tornetta was selected as the Ivy League Co-Offensive Player of the Week following her first career hat trick vs. the Brown Bears on Saturday. Maddie Earle of Harvard will share the honor with Tornetta.
Â
This is the sophomore's third weekly Ivy accolade as she picked up two Rookie of the Week awards last year. The game on Saturday was her fourth multi-goal game of her career. She finished with a personal-high 10 shots, seven reaching the cage and six points.
Â
Tornetta's honor is the seventh time that Princeton secured an Ivy weekly commendation as Grace Baylis (Defensive, Sept. 3), MaryKate Neff (Offensive, Sept. 10), Elise Wong (Defensive, Sept. 17), Sophia Tornetta (Offensive, Oct. 1), Clara Roth (Offensive, Oct. 8), Maddie Bacskai (Defensive, Oct. 8) all earned awards. Princeton has won at least one honor in six of the seven weeks its played.
No. 3 Princeton welcomes No. 11 Harvard to Bedford Field on Saturday (Oct. 20). Those two remain as the remaining undefeated teams in the Ivy League. These two rivals have finished 1-2 in the standings in each of the past two seasons with Princeton earning the crown in 2017 and Harvard in 2016. The game will get underway at 12 p.m. and be streamed on ESPN+.
