October 15, 2018 | Women's Tennis
A year after making the singles final at the ITA Northeast Regional as a freshman, Stephanie Schrage is one win from making it back as a sophomore.
Schrage beat Syracuse's Sofya Golubovskaya 1-6, 7-6(3), 6-2 to advance to Tuesday's 10 a.m. semifinal match against Harvard junior Jenna Friedel. The final-round match will follow.
Schrage is the third-seeded player in the draw, and she won't be facing the draw's second seed, Boston College's Yufei Long, after Long fell in the round of 32 to Syracuse's Dina Hegab. Friedel beat Hegab in the round of 16 before winning her quarterfinal match against Yale's Caroline Dunleavy 7-6, 6-4.
Syracuse's fourth-seeded Miranda Ramirez will face Penn's Iuliia Bryzgalova in the other semifinal after Bryzgalova took down 89th-ranked and top-seeded Jessica Livianu of St. John's 5-7, 6-3, 7-5 in the quarters.
