Third Time's A Charm For Devon Peterkin, Who Claims Another Ivy Player Of The Week Honor
October 15, 2018 | Women's Volleyball
The fantastic junior season for outside hitter Devon Peterkin continued Monday, as she claimed her third Ivy League Player of the Week honor. Peterkin was dominant during a sweep weekend inside Dillon Gym, especially during a first-place showdown with Cornell Friday night. The San Diego native recorded 16 kills and hit .351 during a 3-0 victory over the Big Red, which helped Princeton remain even with Yale in the Ivy League standings.
For the weekend, Peterkin averaged 13 kills and seven digs per match, both of which were 3-0 wins for Princeton. Coming off its first loss of the Ivy season the previous weekend, Peterkin's play was a much-needed spark for the Tigers.
"Devon has once again shown that she is one the of the most well-rounded players in the Ivy League," head coach Sabrina King said. "She strung together two impressive matches against tough opponents. The weekend was an important one for us to rebound, and Devon led the way."
Peterkin is the only player in the Ivy League to rank in the Top 10 in kills, hitting percentage and digs through the first seven matches of the Ivy season. She has posted double-digit kills in every Ivy match this season, and she has hit at least .250 in all six of Princeton's league wins.
The Tigers will host Penn Friday night at 7 pm; you can watch the match live on ESPN+.
