EYE ON THE TIGERS
Princeton was picked to finish fourth in the preseason ECAC Hockey poll after going 14-14-4 last season and 11-10-1 in the league. Princeton returns 15 of its 16 skaters from last season, including the top two scorers in junior Carly Bullock and senior Karlie Lund - both of whom are ECAC Hockey Rookies of the Year. Bullock had a 32-point season last year as a sophomore and has 62 career points. Lund brings 105 career points to the ice after collecting 22 last year. The Tigers entire defensive corps remains in tact with senior Stephanie Sucharda and junior Claire Thompson being the premiere two-way players who combined who 37 points a year ago. In goal Princeton has the talents of Stephanie Neatby, the 2016 USCHO Rookie of the Year. She boasts a .938 save percentage and a 1.74 goals against average in her career. Princeton adds a talented freshmen class of six including Sarah Fillier who was recently named to the Hockey Canada Four Nations Cup roster.
SCOUTING THE BADGERS
Wisconsin is 6-0 and ranked No. 2 in the nation with the all-time winningest coach in NCAA women's hockey history Mark Johnson behind the bench. The Badgers reached the national semifinals last year, falling to ECAC squad Colgate. Wisconsin averages 4.50 goals per game this season with junior Abby Roque leading the way with 10 points on four goals and six helpers. Senior Annie Pankowski has eight points, while classmates Emily Clarke and Sam Cogan chip in seven apiece. Junior Kristen Campbell has started in all six games in goal and has an .893 save percentage and a 1.42 GAA - allowing eight goals on 75 shots.
THE SERIES
This is just the second meeting between Princeton and Wisconsin. The teams met on Nov. 28, 1999 at Hobey Baker Rink and played to a 4-4 draw.
MAKING CONNECTIONS
Princeton assistant coach Kelly Nash is a 2011 graduate of Wisconsin and won two national championships in 2009 and 2011. Sister of former Tiger captain Ali Pankowski '15, Annie, is a senior for the Badgers.
HIGH AND MIGHTY
Princeton isn't shy of playing ranked teams. Last year the Tigers played in 11 games against ranked teams. Most notably was a 2-0 shutout of No. 1 ranked Clarkson - the eventual national champion on Feb. 9 at Hobey Baker Rink. This is the first time since 2011 that Princeton has opened playing a top-10 team. That season they opened against No. 8 Northeastern and won that tilt 5-3.
