No. 12 Princeton's Comeback Falls Short Against Brown, 11-10

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – A furious comeback came up just short as the No. 12 Princeton Tigers dropped a tough 11-10 decision to the Brown Bears at Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center on Sunday morning.
The home unit pitched a shutout in the first quarter, running off a 3-0 lead over Princeton. It was until the 4:33 mark of the second frame in which the Tigers got on the board. Brown continued to push ahead, going in front, 5-1, before settling with a 6-3 halftime advantage.
Brown and Princeton exchanged goals before tallies from Mitchell Cooper and Keller Maloney got the Tigers within one, 7-6, after three stanzas. In the fourth quarter, the Tigers got as close as one three times in the first seven minutes, but Brown countered with a goal each time. Matt Payne completed the scoring with 22 seconds to go, but the Tigers never got the ball back.
Princeton falls to 10-6 overall and 3-4 in the Northeast Water Polo Conference while Brown improves to 11-7 and 4-2 in the conference. The Tigers get back at it next weekend at the Crimson Invitational (Oct. 13-14).
