Princeton Heads To Providence For 2018 Bruno Invitational
November 29, 2018 | Men's Swimming and Diving, Women's Swimming and Diving
The Princeton men's and women's swimming and diving teams will make the trip to the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center this weekend to compete in the 2018 Bruno Invitational.
The meet will take the same format as the 2017 Big Al Invitational and serve as a tuneup for the Ivy League Championships this February. All three days will have morning preliminary sessions (11 on Friday and Saturday, 10 on Sunday) and evening finals sessions (6 on Friday and Saturday, 5 on Sunday).
The Princeton men will compete against Columbia, Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Rider and Villanova (the Brown men are on a suspension through the end of 2018), while the Princeton women will face Dartmouth, Johns Hopkins, Miami, Rider and Villanova.
The meet will also serve as the Ivy League duals against both Brown (women only) and Dartmouth. Though Columbia will be in the field, Princeton will head to New York City the following weekend to compete against the Lions in the final meets of 2018.
The Princeton men come into the weekend with the momentum of both a Big Al Invitational victory and a tri-meet win over both Penn and Cornell. Senior co-captain Murphy McQuet comes into the weekend with top-4 Ivy League times in both the 100 (44.58) and 200 free (1:37.70), while sophomore Levy Nathan has the Ivy's top mile time (15:47.47) of the young season.
This weekend also provides the Princeton men a good opportunity to prepare for the 2019 Ivy Championships, which will take place Feb. 27-March 2 at the Katherine Moran Coleman Aquatics Center in Providence.
The Princeton women also opened their Ivy League seasons with Ivy League victories over both Cornell and Penn, and they have produced several top-10 times heading into the Bruno Inviational. Senior co-captain Joanna Curry, the reigning Ivy League champion in the 200 fly, has a Top-5 time in that event (2:02.50), while she joins teammates Regan Barney and Courtney Tseng with top-10 times in the 400 IM.
This will be Princeton's only trip to Providence this season, as the Tigers will happily invite the rest of the league to DeNunzio Pool Feb. 20-23 to compete at the 2019 Ivy League Championships.
