Princeton Has Four In Double Figures, Stifles Monmouth, 79-47

WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Carlie Littlefield and Bella Alarie combined for 35 points as the Princeton Tigers stifled the Monmouth Hawks, 79-47, at OceanFirst Bank Center on Tuesday evening.
Littlefield led the way, scoring a game-high 19 points, tying her personal mark with four three-pointers. She also secured four rebounds and three steals. Bella Alarie registered 16 points, seven boards and four blocks. Sydney Jordan also got into double figures, posting 12 points, adding seven rebounds, matching her personal-best with five helpers and stealing four passes. Gabrielle Rush hit three treys and finished with 11 points in the win.
The Tigers ran out with the first seven points of the contest and then used another 11-2 push to take a 23-9 lead after 10 minutes. In that stretch, Princeton allowed just four baskets and created five turnovers.
Monmouth started off the second frame quickly, ripping off eight straight points and got within six (31-25), but this four-point play from Littlefield stymied their push and put the road team back in front by double-digits …
After allowing Monmouth to shoot 10-of-18 (55.6 percent) in the second quarter, Princeton held the home squad to 6-of-33 (18.2 percent) for the final 20 minutes. Emani Clough led the Hawks with 19 points in the loss.
Princeton improved to 4-7 overall while Monmouth fell to 3-6. The Tigers will look to extend their three-game winning streak vs. the Marist Red Foxes on Saturday at Jadwin Gym. The game will get underway at 5 p.m.
