For the first time since the opening weekend of the spring season, the Princeton men's tennis team will play at home this weekend, hosting a trio of matches Saturday and Sunday in Jadwin Gym.
Admission is free, and video will be streamed on the Ivy League Network here.
Princeton stands at 8-5 on the season after competing in tournaments on back-to-back weekends, taking two out of three at the ECAC Championship at Yale to earn third place and two out of three at the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic to win the consolation final.
Binghamton is Princeton's first opponent of the weekend, Saturday at 4 p.m. The Bearcats enter the weekend at 3-8 and will make a two-match swing of the trip, heading to NJIT Sunday. Binghamton has already faced two Ivy opponents in Dartmouth (7-0 Dartmouth win on Jan. 20) and Brown (6-1 Brown win on Feb. 10), as well as another opponent the Tigers have already faced this season in Army West Point. The Black Knights beat Binghamton 5-2 on Jan. 28 and Princeton won its match against Army West Point 5-2 on Feb. 11. The Bearcats lead the all-time series against Princeton 3-1 with Binghamton winning the first three matches from 2009-11 and Princeton winning the most recent meeting 7-0 in 2015 in Jadwin.
Charlotte will visit Jadwin Sunday at 10 a.m. The 49ers count Luca Keist as the No. 77-ranked player in the nation in the latest ITA rankings and stand at 7-6 before making a two-match Ivy trip out of the weekend, heading to Penn Saturday before Princeton Sunday. Princeton and the 49ers have never met, nor have the teams had any common opponents so far this season.
Sunday's 3 p.m. match with Western Michigan will close the weekend. The Broncos are ranked 39th nationally by the ITA and have Maik Steiner as the 88th-ranked singles player in the nation. Princeton and Western Michigan have met once before, as the Tigers went to Kalamazoo as part of a three-match Michigan trip to open the 2013 season, Billy Pate's first leading the program. Western Michigan is 11-2 heading into a two-match weekend that will bring the Broncos to Penn State Friday. The Broncos and Tigers have each faced one common opponent this weekend, with WMU beating Michigan State 5-2 on Feb. 9 after the Tigers did so by the same score on Jan. 28.
Following this weekend, Princeton will have another home weekend, welcoming Temple and Monmouth to Jadwin for a Sunday doubleheader next weekend.
