No. 26/24 Princeton to Continue Homestand with Maryland, Penn State This Weekend

At 2-0 so far in Big Ten play, the Princeton women's tennis team will continue its run of matches against that conference before heading out for its spring trip and then starting actual conference play against Penn on March 31.
Ranked 24th by the USTA and 26th by the ITA, Princeton stands at 9-1 having won both of its matches last week against Rutgers and Indiana following its lone loss to the season to Kentucky, now ranked 21st by the USTA and 15th by the ITA. The Tigers count rookie Stephanie Schrage as an ITA-ranked singles player, standing 108th as of the most recent ranking.
This weekend's docket includes a visit from Maryland at 3 p.m. Friday and a match against Penn State at 10 a.m. Saturday. Both matches are free of admission and will be video streamed on the Ivy League Network here.
Princeton is 10-6 all-time against Maryland with the Terrapins taking the teams' lone meeting since 2014 last season in College Park, 5-2. Maryland stands at 3-4 on the season and has already faced one Ivy opponent this season, opening the spring slate against Harvard with a 5-2 win on Jan. 21. Maryland, which counts Eva Alexandrova as the 81st-ranked singles player in the nation, will make it a two-match Ivy weekend with a trip to Columbia Saturday.
Penn State is 5-4 on the season and has also already faced one Ivy opponent, falling to Columbia 5-2 on Feb. 2. Princeton and the Nittany Lions have both faced one common opponent so far this season, each defeating Temple with Princeton doing so 7-0 on Feb. 1 and Penn State winning 4-0 on Jan. 28. Princeton leads the all-time series with Penn State 13-4, but the teams haven't met since 2011.
Following the weekend, Princeton will be away from competition until its spring trip to Texas, facing UT Arlington on Mar. 21 before two matches in Houston, Mar. 24 against William & Mary and Mar. 25 at Rice.
