Tigers Reach 10 Wins, Blank Maryland
March 02, 2018 | Women's Tennis
Making it 3 for 3 against Big Ten opponents this season, the Princeton women's tennis team beat Maryland 4-0 Friday afternoon in a match played to decision in Jadwin.
No. 26 (ITA)/24 (USTA) Princeton will try to make it 4 for 4 against the Big Ten Saturday with a 10 a.m. match against Penn State. Admission is free, video is available via the Ivy League Network here, and Twitter updates are available at @PrincetonTennis.
The Tigers improved to 10-1 with the win, and it's just the fourth time in program history, and first since 2000, that the Tigers have been 10-1 or better through 11 matches. Princeton started 11-0 in 1973 and 10-1 in 1980 and 2000.
Princeton began the afternoon by taking the first two doubles matches to be decided, and Clare McKee, Gaby Pollner and Nathalie Rodilosso each followed that with a straight-set win in singles to get Princeton to four points.
The Tigers now lead the all-time series with Maryland 11-6, but last year's 5-2 Maryland win in College Park was the only match between the teams since 2013.
