Koelzer '17 to Play in NWHL All-Star Game This Weekend

Kelsey Koelzer '17 has been selected to the 2018 National Women's Hockey League All-Star Game in Minnesota as a member of #Team Leveille. The game will take place on Sunday, Feb. 11 between TeamLeveille and TeamOtt at 11:30 a.m., CT and will be broadcast on Twitter Live.
Koelzer is also expected to compete in the Hardest Shot Competition in the Skills Competition on Saturday, Feb. 10 at 6:45 p.m., CT at TRIA Rink.
The teams where chosen by the captains Amanda Leveille and Brittany Ott during a draft in January. Leveille noted on Twitter during her selections: "This next pick is a selfish one. So I don't have to face her slap shot in Minnesota, #TeamLeveille selects Kelsey Koelzer of the @Riveters!"
The Metropolitan Riveters are in first place in the NWHL standings with an 11-1 record, a six-point edge over the next best team. Koelzer is fifth in the league in points with 12 on four goals and eight assists in 11 games. Koelzer was the No. 1 overall pick in the 2016 NWHL Draft and became the first player to sign a late season contract, when she signed on with the Riveters in early March 2017 prior to the playoffs.
A two-time Patty Kazmaier finalist and first-team All-America, Koelzer was an ECAC Hockey three-time selection. The 2016 ECAC Best Defenseman of the Year, she was a finalist for the award again in 2017. The 2016 Ivy League Player of the Year finished her career playing in 128 games and is just the third defender in Princeton history to reach 100 points, scoring 39 goals and 61 assists. She had an incredible 203 career blocks and finished with a +46 on-ice rating. As both a junior and a senior, Koelzer ranked second nationally in points per game for a defender. This season she has also provided commentary to the home broadcasts for Princeton women' shockey.
