Hallisey Has Five-Point Game as Princeton Tops Brown 7-2

Senior David Hallisey had a career high five-point game as the Princeton men's hockey team kept rolling to its fifth straight win in a 7-2 game at Brown on Friday night at Meehan Auditorium.

It's the first time a Tiger has had five points in a game since Andrew Ammon put up a five spot on Yale on Feb. 15, 2014. Hallisey has been putting up numbers this year, with a six-game goal scoring streak earlier in the season, and now has 15 goals and 29 points.

Sophomore Jackson Cressey matched his career high with four points on two goals and two assists. Junior Max Veronneau had two goals and an assist. Junior Alex Riche, freshman Reid Yochim, sophomore Derek Topatigh add two points each. Freshman Ryan Ferland made 31 saves before senior Ben Halford came in for the final 8:05 and made two saves.

The Tigers fifth-ranked power play unit went 2 for 4, while Brown was 1 for 4.

Yochim, who scored the game-winning goal against No. 3 Clarkson on Saturday, picked up right where he left off with the first goal of the game at 4:28. The Tigers converted on their second power-play opportunity, Veronneau's first of two at 14:11.

Tommy Marchin put Brown on the board but just 1:10 later Hallisey had his 15th goal of the season, the eventual game-winning goal to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead at the first intermission.

Right after Ferland made an incredible left pad save Princeton went the other way with Robinson winning the battle against Brown netminder Gavin Nieto. Cressey pushed the Tigers up 5-1 before Brown's Zach Giuttari put one in on the point off a screen on the power play.

Princeton tacked on two more goals in the third with Cressey and Veronneau each picking up their second goals of the game.

Nieto, who had not played in a game since Jan. 6, was pulled after allowing five on 18 shots. Luke Kania came in on relief and made 12 stops on 14 shots.

Princeton, now 11-10-3 overall, is back in action tomorrow night at Yale at 7 p.m. The Tigers are currently in a three-way tie for fifth place in the league, along with Colgate and Dartmouth.
